about

Takeshi Ohbayashi was born in Hiroshima, Japan, in 1987. Brought up in a musical family, Takeshi became exposed to the piano at the very young age of 2. When he turned 9, Takeshi decided to put a hold on his piano studies, and at age 12, became interested in the trumpet. For the next six years, Takeshi focused on classical trumpet, conducting, and composition while attending Hiroshima Music High School. At age 18, Takeshi entered Tokyo College of music to study film scoring and composition.

In his first year of college, he had the opportunity to attend a jazz piano clinic which changed his life forever. Takeshi found his calling on jazz piano, and quickly applied to Berklee College of Music where he received a scholarship to begin his studies in the spring of 2007. He has performed at the Iridium Jazz club in New York City, the Barbados Jazz Festival and Martinique Jazz Festival with Terri Lyne Carrington, Montreal Jazz Festival, and Muroran Jazz Festival.
